We go to Walmart for just about everything! Their prices are usually lower than their competitors and on top of that they participate in price matching. But did you know that’s not the only way to save when shopping in the world’s No. 1 retail chain? Here’s a breakdown of some of the best ways to save at Walmart.
1)Price matching has been a popular strategy for penny pinchers out there for some time now.
How it works: Show the lower advertised price at the register, and Walmart will instantly match the price. Price matching can be done in-store and online.
Limitations: The item(s) from the competitor must be identical to what’s in Walmart’s inventory. This includes fresh produce and meat items. Shoppers are not required to have the ad during checkout; however, Walmart has the right to verify the ad during anytime of the checkout process.
2)Savings catcher is another great pocket saver. With this program, shoppers get back the difference paid for an item and a local competitor’s lower advertised price. Shoppers receive the price difference in reward dollars or Walmart buck’s. That way, your next trip to Walmart should be fairly inexpensive.
How it works: Enter your receipt number into Walmart’s system 3 ways on Walmart’s savings catcher website, your savings catcher phone app, or scan your receipt’s code into you’re the app.
Limitations: Savings catcher only applies to in-store purchases. Shoppers can submit up to 7 receipts per week and there is no minimum purchase requirement.
3)Couponing is another great way to save money on your trusty goods. Clip coupons from your Sunday’s paper, visit Walmart.com for online coupons, or visit coupon sites such as retailmenot.com and coupons.com.
Limitations: Walmart does not except checkout coupons, internet coupons that require no purchase, and competitor’s coupons. When using coupons, they must be present during the time of purchase and items should be identical to the coupon.
4)Online shopping at Walmart is quick and easy to use. There’s a large inventory listing online and there are times where you can luck up and find prices cheaper than in store.
How it works: Once you find your preferred items, select “In-Store pick up” as the delivery option then select your local Walmart store..
5)Rebates are similar to the usage of the Saving Catcher. There are mobile apps that allow you to earn money on items purchased. Visit your app store and download Ibotta or Checkout 51.
How it works: Upload a photo of your receipt and start receiving money back.
