Google has released a new tool called Project Sunroof that helps users decided if they should install solar panel sunroofs on their homes. To configure results, Google requires users to enter their address. Your address is then combined with other databases to create the users’ personalized roof analyses. To customize your roof, Project Sunroof uses maps, imageries, historical cloud and temperature patterns, and sun tracking. All of these things are taken into consideration to compute the amount of sunlight hitting your roof within a year’s span. At this moment in time, Project Sunroof’s service is only available in Boston, the San Francisco Bay area, and Fresno in Central California. Residents in these areas that are interested, can submit their information to Project Solar and they will contact your local solar providers. Visit the Project Sunroof section under Google’s website for more information on solar power, pricing, and considerations.
